Burkina Faso – Metro Church is a part of the Australian Christian Churches network, which has over 1500 congregations around Australia. Recently on the Gold Coast they hosted a city wide Carols event, of which we were one of the major sponsors. At the concert 200 children living in poverty from Burkina Faso were signed on through “Compassion” to be sponsored. One of the pictures has the senior pastor, Garry McDonald photographed with one of the Burkina Faso children. Burkina Faso is the third poorest nation on earth and has a child mortality rate of one in five. Metro has a strategic long-term goal to sponsor 10,000 children in this nation. Metro is passionate about breaking the cycle of poverty around the globe. Every day 30,000 children die from malnutrition and related causes. This preventable tragedy is totally reversible within our lifetimes and initiatives like Carols Against Poverty represent Metro’s commitment to be part of the solution.
